Uses

Liquid Paraffin / Milk Of Magnesia is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:
• Occasional constipation
• Temporary relief of constipation
• Painful conditions of the anus
• Painful conditions of rectum
• Heartburn
• Upset stomach
• Indigestion
Sodium Picosulfate is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:
• Constipation
• Emptying the bowel before colonoscopy

Side Effects

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur in medicines that contain Liquid Paraffin / Milk Of Magnesia. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.
• Anal irritation
• Inflammation
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Respiratory depression
• Cardiac arrest
• Loss of full control of bodily movements
• Fainting
• Loose motions
• Nausea
• Abdominal cramps
• Skin rash due to drug rejection
• Abdominal pain

Precautions & How to use

Before using Liquid Paraffin / Milk Of Magnesia, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.).Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
• Allergic reactions
• Consult doctor for any allergy
• Patient having medical history of kidney disease and appendicitis
• Pregnant or breastfeeding
• Avoid excessive use
• Do not drive or operate machinery
• Do not take this drug on a daily basis for more than 5 days
• Do not use, if you have withdrawal symptoms of alcohol or benzodiazepine drugs
• Pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding

Drug Interactions

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of any ingredient may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Okafin syrup may interact with the following drugs and products:
• Calcium gluconate
• Chlorpropamide
• Ciprofloxacin
• Diflunisal
• Digoxin
• Doxycycline
• Amoxicillin
• Doxycycline
• Furosemide
• Prednisolone

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity toany ingredient is a contraindication. In addition,should not be used if you have the following conditions:
• Hypersensitivity
• Children aged below 10 years
• First trimester of pregnancy
• Intestinal obstruction
