•    Bacterial infection
•    Acute otitis media
•    Pharyngitis and tonsillitis
•    Community-acquired pneumonia
•    Chronic bronchitis exacerbation
•    Gonorrhea
•    Anorectal infections in women
•    Skin and skin structure infections
•    Acute maxillary sinusitis
•    Urinary tract infections
•    Lower respiratory tract infections
•    Otitis media
•    Sinusitis

Mechanism of Action and Pharmacology

Cefpodoxime / Clavulanic Acid improves the patient's condition by performing the following functions:
•    Inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
•    Inhibiting the growth of bacteria.

 

Side-Effects

•    Diarrhea
•    Vomiting
•    Abdominal pain
•    Headache
•    Weakness
•    Fever
•    Nausea
•    Rash

Contraindications

•    Clostridium difficile bacteria related colitis
•    History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with Amoxicillin and Clavulanate
•    Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
•    Penicillin hypersensitivity
•    Pseudomembranous colitis
•    Seizures related to drug

 

Precautions

•    Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea
•    Diarrhea is a common problem
•    Hepatic dysfunction
•    Hypersensitivity to penicillins
•    If the drug format is suspension, keep it refrigerated and shake well before using
•    If you develop bloody or watery diarrhea contact your doctor immedately
•    Inform your doctor if you have had allergic reactions to penicillins or other cephalosporins in the past
•    It is important that you finish the entire course as prescribed
•    It may reduce the effect of oral contraceptives
•    It treats bacterial infections and does not treat viral infections
•    Kidney problems
•    Mononucleosis
•    Superinfections involving Pseudomonas or Candida
•    Take cefpodoxime either 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking antacids
•    Take it with food
•    This medication is intended only for treatment of bacterial infections
