Description

Cephalexin is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics and it fights against bacteria in the body. Cephalexin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections.

Indication

• Infections of the middle ear
• Tonsils
• Throat
• Larynx
• Bronchi (bronchitis) and pneumonia.

Mode Of Action

Cephalexin, like the penicillins, is a beta-lactam antibiotic. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins

List of Contraindications

• Caution when used during Inflammation of the Large Intestine
